As a friend commented to me earlier today; “you grew a pair and finally did it”. I did, I ordered a Macbook Pro from Apple. It’s been a long road getting to this place in time, but I’m finally glad to be here.
Since the announcement at MacWorld ‘06 of the new Intel Core Duo MBPs I’ve been going back and forth on when to bite and buy. But I listened to my gut (I hope it’s right this time) and waited for the 2nd revision. Apple builds the most innovative and beautiful hardware in the world, but they don’t always get it right first time round.
Taking advantage of the corporate discount (8%) through work, I order a 2.16GHz Core 2 Duo with 2GB RAM and the 160GB HD. Also choose the glossy screen over the standard matte offering. I have a Sony Vaio with a glossy screen currently and as much as I hate the Vaio, the screen is beautiful (under the right lighting!).
Just to add a little sprinkling on top, it’ll be coming with an additional power adapter (one for home, one for work), a Belkin Expresscard/34 memory card reader and a copy of Parallels. Oh, and I picked up a wireless mighty mouse on Black Friday, which is just superb.
Will it be here by Friday? Here’s hoping….
